Vincent Irwin
Adjunct Lecturer
Vincent Irwin (MIChemE) is a Chartered Chemical Engineer, boasting extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry. As the Global Kilo Technology Laboratory (KTL) Leader at Pfizer since 2018, Vincent has been responsible for managing and directing KTL activities, leading a team of Senior Research Technologists and Engineers, and overseeing resource planning, facility utilization, and equipment maintenance. Vincent's role also includes budgeting and financial management.
Prior to this, Vincent served as the Site Product Portfolio Leader at Pfizer Ringaskiddy from 2016 to 2018, where he led teams of Engineers and Chemists in manufacturing a portfolio of commercial Pfizer products. Vincent has a proven track record of driving process improvements and delivering successful projects, including significant cost savings through site competitiveness projects.
Vincent's career at Pfizer began in 2008, with roles ranging from Plant Engineer to Production Supervisor, where he managed API and intermediate manufacturing activities, and led Overall Equipment Effectiveness workshops. Vincent's expertise extends to process engineering, having acted as Process Engineer on various projects, including technical transfers between manufacturing sites.
In addition to his industrial experience, Vincent has been a guest lecturer in the Department of Process and Chemical Engineering across the Certificate, Diploma, and Master’s programmes since 2012. Vincent holds a Higher Diploma in Leadership Development from UCC and various certifications in process safety, project management, and Six Sigma.
