The Department of Music at University College Cork is delighted to announce a series of exciting projects and events to celebrate 100 years of Irish Traditional Music at UCC.
Since 1922, the Department has enjoyed an unbroken history of Irish traditional music pedagogy and today, traditional music staff at the department continue to inspire and empower students to pursue a comprehensive range of Irish traditional music studies. Our graduates have gone on to contribute to Irish traditional music and culture in areas as diverse as performance, research, education, composition and arts administration, in local, national and international communities. Throughout the 2022/23 academic year, a series of centenary events will celebrate and reflect on our rich history while exploring our contribution to the further development of Irish traditional music pedagogy in third level education.
