Symposium 'Eco-Poetry as Activism, Climate Action and Interdisciplinary Knowledge-Making' Tuesday 9 April 1-5pm

The Irish Centre for Mexican Studies, at the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies, and the SFI Centre MaREI, at the Environmental Research Institute, are pleased to invite you to an interdisciplinary symposium with contributions from colleagues from all UCC colleges and activist Mikeas Sánchez. With the support of the Future Humanities Institute, Collective Social Futures and the Centre for Advanced Studies in Languages and Cultures (CASiLaC).    This event is linked to the Eco-Humanities Research Group and the CASiLaC research clusters Translation and Creative Practice; Rethinking Spatial Humanities; and Violence, Conflict & Gender. With opening remarks by Prof. Nuala Finnegan, Dean of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies.

Poetry Translation Events with Clyde Moneyhun

Clyde Moneyhun translates contemporary Catalan-language poetry and has published translations of Ponç Pons (El salobre/Salt, 2017), Dolors Miquel (Haikús del camioner/Truck Driver Haikus, 2019), and Anna Dodas i Noguer (El volcà/The Volcano, 2022).  His translation of Bruixa de dol/Witch in Mourning by Maria-Mercè Marçal appeared in 2023. His current project is an anthology of the 20th century Catalan-language poets Maria Antònia Salvà, Caterina Albert, Rosa Leveroni, Clementina Arderiu, and Maria-Mercè Marçal.  A descendant of Menorcan immigrants to the United States, he maintains a residence in Maó.  He teaches writing and literary translation at Boise State University in Idaho.
