The final year BSc Chemistry with Forensic Science class went on a tour of the State Laboratory yesterday.

On 6th March 2025 the UCC Chemical Society celebrated its 100 Year Anniversary at an event in Cork County Cricket Club.

Orla’s enormous contribution to the School of Chemistry, and more broadly across the University, was acknowledged at the recent event to mark her retirement attended by current and former members of the School of Chemistry and colleagues from across the University.

Prof Anita Maguire, Head of School of Chemistry spoke at a recent lunch hosted by the British Ambassador to celebrate International Day for Women and Girls in Science. Anita represented the Head of College of SEFS on this occasion and joined an impressive group of speakers.

Dr Eric Moore and colleagues from the School of Chemistry, UCC recently attended the I Wish showcase event at the RDS. 

Congratulations to UCC Chemistry alumnus (BSc, PhD) John O’Donoghue, now working in the School of Chemistry at TCD,  on the recent publication of his book Onscreen chemistry: The portrayal of chemical science in film and TV.

The School of Chemistry's EDI Committee organised an event for IUPAC's Global Women's Breakfast on 11th February 2025 with the theme 'Accelerating Equity in Science'.

A transdisciplinary team of AMBER and CRANN researchers from the School of Chemistry at University College Cork (UCC) and the School of Physics at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) has developed sensor technology for wearable air quality monitors that alert individuals of their exposure to hazardous gases.

The School of Chemistry held its inaugural prize-giving event for student prizes and awards on 20^th January recognising student performance and achievement across the various degree programmes and years within the School.
