Researchers at University College Cork (UCC) will lead three new Research Ireland centres. The announcement was made today by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD, who also announced a new enhanced research national network, 'Rinn'.

The School of Chemistry is delighted to congratulate Professor Justin Holmes and Dr Rupa Ranjani, who were both recognised at the UCC Research & Innovation Awards 2025. Professor Holmes received the Supervisor of the Year Award, while Dr Ranjani was named joint winner of the Research Image of the Year Award.

Chemistry students awarded Quercus Scholar Medals

The College of SEFS hosted a special ceremony to honour our Quercus Scholar Medal recipients 2024-25 for the College of SEFS in the Aula Maxima on 22nd April 2026. A total of 21 students were recognised, including three Chemistry students, and they received a commemorative medal and certificate.

Second year School of Chemistry student honoured at UCC EmployAgility Awards 2026

CPC2 student Conor Krol was awarded a Bronze Award Certificate for his work on the Internship EmployAgility Award 2026. Conor was involved with the project titled “Predicting NMR Chemical Shifts from Structure in α-Thio-β-chloroacrylamides Using Machine Learning” supervised by Dr Stuart Collins, School of Chemistry.
