School of Chemistry staff members honoured at President's Awards 2025
The President's Awards for Excellence in Teaching were presented at a ceremony in the Aula Maxima on Thursday 4th of December.
The Teaching Excellence Awards scheme at UCC is the longest-established scheme of its kind in Ireland. These awards recognise and celebrate staff who have made an outstanding contribution in the pursuit of teaching excellence, and who demonstrate innovative and creative forms of teaching, learning and assessment that enhances student learning and student outcomes. Teaching can include course design and implementation and/or research and enquiry into teaching, learning and assessment. This year Dr Gillian Collins was presented with the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching – Early Career Award.
Coinciding with the Awards event was the CIRTL Graduation Ceremony which awarded 91 graduands with with parchments for successful completion of one of two programmes. Both Dr Niamh O'Mahoney and Dr Aoife O'Sullivan received their awards for completing the Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education
Professor Anita Maguire, Head of School said, "Congrats to Gillian on her Award for Teaching and Learning and to Aoife and Niamh for their CIRTL awards. Our students benefit from the strong commitment to high quality teaching evidenced by these awards."
