Current Research

The Department of Physiology is characterised by the diversity of its research themes and specialist techniques ranging from molecule to man.

The Department has research laboratories in the Western Gateway Building (WGB) in the Biosciences Institute (BSI) where a number of the academic staff are Principal Investigators. These research labs provide independent and shared space for the Department's research activities. Most staff are active in both teaching and research, and all contribute to research-led teaching activities in the Department ranging from 3rd year research literature reviews and 4th year research projects to MSc, MD, PhD and post-doctoral training and assessment. The academic publication outputs of staff are detailed in individual IRIS profiles.
