Johnson & Johnson WiSTEM2D Programme with SEFS 2023/24
This programme is open to female* undergraduate students of STEM subjects entering their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of studies in 2023/24. The Johnson & Johnson WiSTEM2D Programme aims to fuel development of the female STEM2D talent pipeline by awarding and sponsoring women at critical points in their careers in STEM2D disciplines. This programme was introduced in the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science in UCC in 2018 and has been instrumental in supporting our female students through a range of intiatives including leadership training, mentoring, internships, bursaries, and CV/recuitment clinics. Bursaries for STEM Students
We are delighted to announce the launch of the 2023/24 bursaries up to the value of €1,500 each for 16 female STEM students under the J&J WiSTEM2D Programme. These awards will be presented to female STEM students to support their studies in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Manufacturing and Design Subjects (STEM2D).
Successful candidates will receive:
- Bursary award €1500
- J&J industry mentor.
- WiSTEM2 D Conference in Limerick, 14th November 2023
- Site tours (Janssen Sciences Ireland / Janssen Pharmaceutical Sciences/ DePuy Synthes).
- Early career and development workshop.
Eligibility
Female* UCC students of STEM2D Subjects entering 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of their studies in the academic year 2023/24 are eligible to apply. Eligible degree courses are listed below:
- Computer Science
- Biological & Chemical Sciences
- Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences
- Genetics
- Chemistry and Chemical Sciences
- Mathematical Sciences
- Industrial Physics, Physics and Astrophysics
- Data Science & Analytics
- Agricultural Science
- Food and Nutritional Sciences
- Engineering and Architecture
- Biomedical Sciences
- Business Information Systems

*Application is open to all students who meet the eligibility criteria, but the bursary may be awarded on a discretionary basis if applicant has been in receipt of a WiSTEM2D bursary in previous years. All other aspects of the programme (mentorship, industry networking, site visits etc.) will, however, be offered. In the event of several candidates obtaining equal marks for their applications or interview performance, priority may be given to students on degree programmes in which female students are under-represented.
