Postgraduate

The Department of Sociology & Criminology has a successful postgraduate programme. We offer an MA in Sociology, an MA in the Sociology of Sustainability and Global Challenges; and an opportunity to pursue Ph.D. research in Sociology.

Our MA degrees are designed for people who want to develop more advanced knowledge of Sociological theory, methods, and specialized topics. They are designed in such a way as to allow you to pursue and develop your own interests across a series of cutting-edge modules. Students take modules in Sociological theory and methods, as well as elective modules, and complete a dissertation as part of their degrees. Over the past several years students have completed projects on topics in a wide range of Sociology, ranging from Sociology of Gender to the Sociology of Human Rights to the Sociology of Environment.
