Teaching & Timetables Semester 2 Academic Year 2020/21
To comply with government guidelines and to ensure the safety of both our students and staff, all College of Business and Law degree Programme Teaching for the Second Semester will be provided online. This means students will engage in online learning (live online events and pre-made online content).
In line with a Government direction on Friday 25 Sep 2020, UCC, along with all universities in the country, introduced enhanced public health protection measures from Monday, 28 September 2020. Further to this the Level 5 measures announced in late December 2020, which are ongoing, are consistent with our current activities. As matters stand today, the measures which currently apply to UCC activities during this Level 5 period are published on the UCC Covid-19 web pages.
In accordance with the Government’s directions, lectures shall be delivered online to the maximum extent possible during this period of enhanced protective measures. For this College and for its Schools: the School of Law and Cork University Business School (CUBS) for this period lectures will be delivered online in as far as possible.
Programme Directors and Module Co-ordinators have communicated lecture/tutorial arrangements for Semester 2 to students via Canvas and/or email. Students should check their student email and Canvas for alerts about lectures/tutorials.
Current onsite research activities will continue as outlined in the guidance on the UCC Covid-19 web pages.
The UCC libraries remain open as they have done throughout in recent months in providing this important resource for our students, staff and researchers. Details of services can be found at the following link:-
There was much activity over summer 2020 mainly by CDE and CIRTL (but including valuable advice also from IT Services, the Skills Centre, Graduate Attributes and the Library) developing supports for staff faced with using technology for teaching. These supports include advice available on the Keep Teaching website (especially the Getting Started page) and also on the Canvas course Teaching With Technology – all staff on Canvas are auto-enrolled. In addition, the Teach Digi initiative currently provides weekly seminars for staff on various aspects of teaching with technology. Further information can be found at the following Sharepoint link:
