College of Business and Law Research Showcase 2026

The College of Business and Law held its 2026 Research Showcase on Friday, 5 June, in UCC's Western Gateway Building, bringing together academic staff and PhD researchers from across CUBS and the School of Law for a full day of shared research and interdisciplinary exchange. 

Framed around the theme "Transforming Economies and Societies: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Work, AI, Governance, and Health," the event drew more than 70 academics across fifteen sessions, grouped under four groups of Collective Social Futures; Food, Microbiome & Health; and Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics; and Work and the Economy. 

The day opened with remarks from Professor Mary McCarthy, CBL Vice Dean of Research and Innovation, Professor Thia Hennessy, Head of College, and Professor Conor O'Mahony, Dean of the School of Law, before sessions got underway across the various research themes. Professor Anthony McDonnell, Dean of CUBS, and Professor Justin Doran brought proceedings to a close. 

Throughout the day, researchers had the chance to connect with colleagues outside their usual disciplines, discuss emerging lines of inquiry, and identify potential avenues for future collaboration. The showcase also gave particular visibility to the work of PhD students and early-career researchers, underlining their growing contribution to the College's research output. 

The event reflects the College's continued commitment to producing interdisciplinary research with real-world relevance to some of the most significant social and economic challenges facing society today.
