Annual Scholarships and Prizes Awards Reception
The College of Business and Law celebrated the achievements of its students at the Annual Scholarships and Prizes Awards Reception on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.
Held in the Aula Maxima, the reception brought together prize and scholarship recipients, their families, academic staff, donors, sponsors and partners.
Student speakers Michael Dore of Cork University Business School and Gloria Princess Sunny Joe of the School of Law reflected on their experiences representing UCC in international student competitions. Gloria received the Outstanding Individual Award at the Corn Adomnáin international humanitarian law competition, while Michael participated in two of four global case competitions entered by CUBS students during the year.
The event also welcomed Law and Business graduate Jennifer Chadwick as its inaugural alumna speaker. Jennifer, who works with the Department of Foreign Affairs, shared insights from her journey since graduating from UCC in 2020.
The occasion was made all the more memorable by Quercus students Méabh Ní Chonaill, Donnchadh McAodha and Gráinne Ahern, who treated guests to a musical performance from the gallery.
Among the prizes featured on the day was the Head of College Prize, awarded by Professor Thia Hennessy to students Martin Etzelstorfer and Isabel Sibanda, in recognition of their exceptional achievement.
The reception offered the college community an opportunity to recognise the dedication and accomplishments of its students and to thank those whose support makes its scholarships and prizes possible.
