The Book of Lismore, Leabhar Méig Carthaigh Riabhaigh, one of the most remarkable Irish manuscripts, and one of the very few remaining in private possession, has been donated to University College Cork by the Chatsworth Settlement Trust.

Congratulations to Siobhán Ní Dhomhnaill
25 Jun 2019Warm congratulations to Siobhán Ní Dhomhnaill, a student on the MA in Law and Irish, who won a major prize at Listowel Writers’ Week for her unpublished collection of poems. The adjudicator, poet Thomas McCarthy, was struck by the originality of her bilingual collection. Siobhán took the module GA6034 Creative Writing with Dr Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh and regularly attended the informal workshop in An Seomra Caidrimh during Semester 2. We are looking forward to seeing her poetry in print!

16 Mar 2018It was a honour to welcome the internationally acclaimed poet, Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill, back to her alma mater on 13 March 2018. She spoke to Final Year students who are studying her work and answered their question with honesty and erudition. Later that evening, she gave a public reading in the Council Room that was enjoyed by all in attendance.
