Very excited about their futures the BSc Medical and Health Sciences Class of 2023 marked the completion of their four-year degree programme with staff on May 25th 2023. The class of 2023 are the second cohort of students to complete the new BSc Medical and Health Science's inovative programme.
On Saturday 26th November 2022 the UCC Translational Medicine Society partnered with Cleanmarine to host the Women's Health Conference, bringing together a range of speakers with expertise in women's health to speak on, explore and discuss menopause, women's health and nutrition.
Dr Louise Collins BSc Medical and Sciences Coordinator hosted the first BSc Medical and Sciences Mentoring programme in December 2022. The event brought together first year Medical and Health Sciences students and academic staff lecturing on the programme in an innovative mentoring initiative.
The student-led UCC Translational Medicine Society hosted its second annual Narrowing the Void Conference in UCC on Wednesday 25th January 2023. The Conference was opened by Professor Aideen Sullivan, Head of Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience and Director of the BSc Medical and Health Sciences.

Following the very successful completion of the new BSc Medical and Health Sciences degree by the first class of students, Professor Aideen Sullivan, BSc Medical and Health Sciences Programme Developer and Academic Director, and Dr Louise Collins, Academic Coordinator, BSc Medical and Health Sciences, and a team of undergraduate MHS students had a very busy day in Brookfield Health Sciences Building meeting with secondary school students and their families at the BSc Medical and Health Sciences stand at the recent UCC Undergraduate Open Day in October.
Congratulations to Seán Ó Murchú, who was recently presented with the BioMarin Prize by Dr Rachel Furlong for achieving first place in the BSc Medical and Health Sciences graduating class of 2022. Seán was also presented the best final year project award, and amazingly was also the first student to complete a BSc Medical and Health Sciences viva while on a 6-day charity cycle!!

The UCC Society of Translational Medicine hosted their annual ‘Narrowing the Void’ Conference on Thursday January 27th 2022 as a Hybrid conference – in person in the Devere Hall, UCC, and simultaneously streamed live online via Whova™ conferencing software. This was the first Hybrid conference to be held in UCC!
The Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience is delighted to welcome the first class of Medical and Health Science students to UCC. This innovative and exciting new degree programme was conceived and developed by a team led by Professor Aideen Sullivan, Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience.
At an event held recently in the Western Gateway building, Professor Aideen Sullivan (Programme Director) and Professor Ken O' Halloran (Head of Department of Physiology), welcomed the first BSc Medical and Health Sciences class to meet with staff from the School of Medicine, School of Public Health, School of Biochemistry & Cell Biology and School of Microbiology at a lunchtime buffet 'Meet and Greet'.
