We want to extend a warm welcome to all our incoming students. It’s been a difficult time for everyone and we want to help you with the task of preparing for the forthcoming semester. UCC is committed to as much face-to-face teaching as public health requirements allow. However, teaching in 2020/21 will take the form of a hybrid model that combines classroom teaching with online elements. All teaching will go fully online should there be a second wave of the COVID19 pandemic. Language Departments within our School are planning to deliver modules using a blended approach and staggered attendance so the students will physically attend one of the classes and there will be material online to advance learning. Students will be 1m physical distancing and mask wearing will apply for all students at all times in the lecture hall. There may be a need for some classes and some modules to migrate online in the event of health concerns. For information on such arrangements within each Language Department of the School, please visit the individual websites, links are available on the left of this webpage. Further information will be made available on Canvas and from individual module co-ordinators. Public health guidelines are subject to change and guidelines within the university may also change. We’ll endeavour to keep you updated and to support you. There will be uncertainty but Departments and module co-ordinators will support you through this time as best they can. Through understanding and patience we’ll work our way forward. I wish you all a successful semester and, once more, welcome.
