Alex Stevens is a professor at the University of Sheffield's Centre for Criminological Research (School of Law). He holds a PhD in Social Policy from the University of Kent. He is a past President of the International Society for the Study of Drug Policy. His research focuses on the overlap described in the title of his 2011 book on Drugs, Crime and Public Health (Routledge). He was a member of the UK Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, before resigning in 2019.
