Irish Language Rap Summer Camp

Barr na gCnoc and The Kabin Studio host summer camp in Knocknaheeny, Cork. 

For the second year in a row, the Kabin Studios and Barr na gCnoc coordinated a rap workshop in Knockneheeny, on the north side of Cork City. 

The Summer Camp gave young people the opportunity to gain exposure to the Irish language through artistic creativity, songwriting, and music. The week-long camp took place between 14th-17 July 2025.

The Summer Camp was attended by schoolchildren from the local area. The Kabin Studios, led by Garry McCarthy (GMC Beats) provided their producing/ songwriting expertise for the camp, with sponsorship and support from Barr na gCnoc. Barr na gCnoc instructors also participated, along with Kabin's rap instructors.

Six musical tracks were created during the camp, which were showcased to parents and guardians during an exciting performance on the last day. The feedback from the students was extremely positive, with all wanting to take part in more Irish language activities. We had a fantastic week creating innovative and exciting music in the Kabin through the medium of Irish.
