Beauty and Wonders of Nature

Beauty and Wonders of Nature by artist Mary Rose Day opened on the 27th November

The exhibition opening was a busy and fun filled evening with family, friends and colleagues on hand to support Mary Rose.

Beauty and Wonders of Nature is an exhibition of oil and watercolour paintings by Mary Rose Day that have been inspired by the beauty, vastness and power of nature in a traditional style.

From Roches Point lighthouse and the dramatic coastlines along the wild Atlantic way to atmospheric woodland and mountains scenes and still life, all rendered in oil on canvas. Deep blues, browns and greys capture the essence and changing moods of nature and the Irish landscape.

The exhibition features a variety of paintings using watercolour and pen and ink. The translucence of watercolour is used to portray the delicacy and looseness of flowers and pen and ink will capture chickens. Paintings of lily pond, fragrant roses, tulips to lighthouses around Ireland are some of the watercolour paintings in this exhibition.

The exhibition focuses primarily on the everchanging beauty and power of nature. Being with nature is good for the mind body and soul and makes for emotional wellbeing.

Mary Rose Day had a career in academia and after taking early retirement as Lecturer in the School of Nursing & Midwifery UCC, Mary Rose participated in a number of classes on watercolour with Ann Marie Bourke. Mary Rose has been a member of the the Shanagarry Art Group since 2024. Find out more about Mary Rose here.

Proceeds from the sale of 10 paintings 'The Tranquility Series' will be donated to Alzheimer's Society of Ireland.
