Resources for Staff

As a staff member at the University College Cork, we understand that you play a critical role in supporting students and contributing to the institution's success. We have compiled various resources and information designed specifically for staff members to help you in your professional development and support your work with students.

The resources included in this toolkit are focused on enhancing your skills, knowledge, and understanding of digital inclusion. We believe that promoting these values and practices is essential to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all members of the UCC community.

Inclusive UCC is committed to promoting digital inclusion and providing staff members with the resources and support they need to help students succeed. We hope the resources included in this toolkit will be valuable tools to help you continue growing and developing in your role at UCC. If you have any feedback or suggestions for additional resources that would be helpful to add to the toolkit, please do not hesitate to contact us.

When creating content, there are a few basic steps that should be followed to ensure your content is accessible. The core steps needed for accessibility are the same regardless of whether your document is in HTML, Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, or another document format:

  • Use headings
  • Use lists
  • Use meaningful hyperlinks
  • Add alternate text to images
  • Identify document language
  • Use tables wisely
  • Understand how to export from one format to another
