Fees
Fees
Consultations and services at Student Health are usually free except fo those services listed in the Fee Table below.
The fees for Physiotherapy and Travel vaccines are payable in advance, on booking the consultation.
Payment Methods
UCC Student Health is now operating as a cashless payment service as a means of reducing risk of transmission of infection and reducing financial risks to all.
From March 2023 we will also operate a payment-by-text option where you will be sent an SMS with details of the amount you owe and a link which you click to pay the amount owed in full. No medical details are shared with the external organisation who provide this payment-by-text service. You will be asked to consent to this payment-by-text option and you have the right to consent, refuse consent, and change your consent at a future date.
You are not obliged to use this payment by text system and you may also pay us using other cashless options such as debit card and credit card and by cheque.

All at the discretion of the attending Student Health Doctor, Nurse or Physiotherapist.
Consultations with local private GPs, Out-of-Hours Services, A+E attendances, and private Consultants attract a fee and students are liable for that fee.
Medical Card Scheme
Medical Cards
Only about 10% of the student body is entitled to a medical card (GMS). The Student Health Department is not a Medical Card Practice. All medical card holders should register with a Cork based GMS doctor. If you hold a medical card and attend the student health department, medication prescribed by the doctor will not be on a GMS prescription and you will be charged the full amount on presentation of that prescription to the pharmacist.
A Medical Card entitles the holder to free consultation and in certain circumstances to free prescriptions and free hospitilisation. Students are not entitled to a Medical Card unless their parents have such a card, but mature students i.e. over 24 years of age may be entitled to a card in their own right depending on income.
To apply for a Medical Card and to check eligibility please visit http://www.hse.ie/eng/services/list/1/schemes/mc/
