Supporting Frameworks and Partnerships

HEA: Higher Education Authority

The HEA is the statutory agency that leads the strategic development of the Irish higher education and research system. The overall objective is to create a coherent system of diverse institutions with distinct missions, which is responsive to the social cultural and economic development of Ireland and its people and supports the achievement of national objectives. The HEA also created the Healthy Campus Charter and Framework to support the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in their work to support the health and wellbeing of the campus community. The Healthy Campus Framework outlines how HEIs can implement national policies and strategies in the key areas of physical activity, tobacco, sexual health, mental health, and drugs and alcohol in a way that addresses local needs. In 2015, UCC commited to the Healthy Campus Framework by signing the charter.

Some of the topics of interest include but are not limited to health and healthcare of vulnerable groups, aging in urban contexts, addressing mental health issues, public health, design and technology related aspects for health and wellbeing for a sustainable and sufficient future and the like.
