Can I order a new / replacement mobile device?

Yes, please submit your request to mobiles@ucc.ie to initiate the process. Given the current closure of the university the following ordering process applies:

  1. The following information should be submitted as part of the application:
  • Name of applicant
  • Email address
  • Cost code
  • Preferred handset model (based on list provide from mobiles@ucc.ie)
  • Shipping address
  • Confirm acceptance of UCC mobile policy.
  • The applicant CC’s their HOD when applying – for approval purposes
  1. Arrangements will be made, where possible, for orders to be delivered directly to private addresses.
  2. Both Three / Vodafone are reporting low stock levels of devices so applicants might not receive their preferred model.

Can I order a mobile broadband device?

Yes, please submit your request to mobiles@ucc.ie to initiate the process. Given the current closure of the university the following ordering process applies:

  1. The following information should be submitted as part of the application:
  • Name of applicant
  • Email address
  • Cost code
  • Shipping address
  • Confirm acceptance of UCC mobile policy.
  • The applicant CC’s their HOD when applying – for approval purposes
  1. Both Three / Vodafone are reporting zero stock levels of USB/ dongle devices so you are encouraged to use your UCC mobile / own device as a mobile hotspot (see our page on mobile tethering) instead of ordering an additional mobile broadband package.
  2. Alternatively, sim-only data connections can be provided and applicants can use their mobile phone as a ‘dongle’.
  3. If you do not currently have access to a mobile device, a low cost mobile phone can be ordered to provide a device for connecting to the mobile data network.

What are the monthly data allowances under the UCC contract?

For phone accounts

  • All Vodafone users are on 5GB
  • All Three users are on 15 GB.

For mobile data only packages all Vodafone / Three users are on 15GB

  • Once the data limits are exceeded additional charges will apply but users can continue to use the data network.

 

Both Three and Vodafone communicate via text to the users when they have used their monthly data allowances.

Will I be tied into a 24 month contract?

No.

Three are UCC’s preferred provider following a recent tendering process and plans were in train to port all account holders to Three. While the porting plan has been put on hold all orders processed will be open contract, i.e. No minimum contract duration as devices will be purchased at full handset costs.
