It's been a busy year for the CDE
The Centre for Digital Education has been busy supporting staff through training and advice. We have created online content for ourselves and other departments, liaised with offices and departments across UCC, provided individual and schools-based training sessions and provided advice as required at all levels.

Do UCC staff need to record all teaching activities?
The Student's Union have raised the question of whether UCC staff are asked to record all teaching activities. As per the advice on our Getting Started website, we would like to remind staff that, generally speaking, teaching delivered online synchronously should be made available to students online as recordings in order to ensure equity of access for all. However, exceptions are possible.

Should students be required to have their cameras on?
Many staff have been asking about whether they should mandate students to turn their webcams on for live meetings. The OVPLT view is that you should not ordinarily require students to turn on their cameras as there may well be very reasonable explanations as to why students may not wish to be seen.
