Sailing

Welcome to UCC Sailing Club. The club competes at several events each year and all students are welcome.

About Us

UCC Sailing Club was founded in 1972 by Eddie English, Finn Lyden (an uncle of current UCCSC star Fionn Lyden) and Clayton Love.

In 2012 we celebrated UCC Sailing Club turning 40 by hosting an alumni regatta and post-event dinner in the Royal Cork Yacht Club with all the proceeds going to the Joe English Foundation. The has since become an annual event and has continued to celebrate the long life of UCCSC and to raise money for extremely worthy causes such as the Joe English Foundation and the Nathan Kirwan Trust.

At present the Club has approximately 60 active members and a large alumnus of past UCC sailors.

Always successful in competition, over the past few years UCC Sailing has outdone itself, taking second place in the gold category and third place in the silver category at the annual intervarsities. At the IUSA yachting championships, UCC Sailing Club achieved second place overall in the competition. In November 2016, UCC Sailing Club were also the first University team to ever win ITRA Nationals, which was a huge achievement.

UCC Sailing is looking onwards and upwards and hoping to have an even more successful each year. For more information on the club, training and competitions, follow us on social media or email us.
