Welcome to UCC Sailing Club. The club competes at several events each year and all students are welcome.

About Us

UCC Sailing Club was founded in 1972 by Eddie English, Finn Lyden and Clayton Love.

At present the Club has approximately 60 active members (including some Irish Olympic Team Prospect’s) and a large alumnus of past UCC sailors. Club members train on a regular basis in the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven sailing our fleet of Firefly dinghies.

Competing in a number of events annually, including IUSA Northerns, IUSA Easterns, IUSA Southerns, IUSA Intervarsities, Student Yachting Championship, WAVE Regatta and ITRA Nationals. Consistently successful in competition, in November 2016, UCC Sailing Club were the first University team to ever win ITRA Nationals, which was a huge achievement for the club.

In 2012 we celebrated UCC Sailing Club turning 40 by hosting an alumni regatta and post-event dinner in the Royal Cork Yacht Club with all the proceeds going to the Joe English Foundation. The has since become an annual event and has continued to celebrate the long life of UCCSC and to raise money for extremely worthy causes such as the Joe English Foundation and the Nathan Kirwan Trust.

This year (2022/2023) marks the club’s 50th anniversary, a momentous occasion for the club and in addition to our alumni event, we are tasked with organising the IUSA Southerns event for February 2023.

UCC Sailing is looking onwards and upwards and hoping to have an even more successful year, each year. For more information on the club, training and competitions, follow and contact us on social media (linked below) or email us.
