Digital

What is the Digital Estate?

The digital estate for communications encompasses UCC's digital or online presence which includes the university's websites as well as our social media pages and profiles. The digital estate is managed by the digital estate for communications group (DE Comms Group) in which the Office of Marketing and Brand Impact plays a key role.

Websites

Our website is a key communication channel for the university. Through our Web Content Team, the Office of Marketing and Brand Impact has implemented a web content strategy for the entire university. We help the university and its organisational units to develop a strategy that improves how we govern our website, how we manage the day-to-day activities of those who update pages within the site and how we create and manage content for the site. Through the DE Comms Group, which consists of colleagues from across the organisation, we provide advice and support to those looking to maintain their own portion of the website on behalf of the university.

Digital Marketing

The Office of Marketing and Communications offers digital advertising support for student recruitment and awareness-raising campaigns for UCC-led activities and events.

The process involves the use of social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google AdWords and programmatic advertising, i.e. advertising on websites.

Digital Marketing Officer, Rob Connellan, supports activities across the university.

Digital advertising involves the use of creative assets (video and imagery), which require significant time to produce, and is outsourced to AVMS or external university suppliers. Please note that there is a minimum budget required for the use of our digital advertising services and also a minimum lead in time request of three months to cater for demand.

Social Media

We manage the university's official social media accounts (along with our colleagues in the office of Media and Communications) and the digital estate for communications group allows us to drive the formulation of policy and procedures for the use of social media for UCC. DE Comms Group also provides clear advice and guidance to those looking to engage in social media on behalf of the university.

We also coordinate a mailing list of over 100 UCC social media accounts who may be willing to help spread the word about your event. To be added to the list, simply email Denis Twomey .
