EmployAbility Programme

What Is the EmployAbility Programme?

The Access UCC EmployAbility Team delivers a Career Mentoring & Summer Internship programme in conjunction with partner employers. Our partners include a number of employers, including large multinational companies in the pharmaceutical, technology, finance and other sectors, primarily in the Cork area.

This is an exclusive opportunity for Disability Support registered students at UCC.

What Are the Aims of the EmployAbility Programme?

The EmployAbility Programme has two primary aims:

  • To equip students with a disability to progress from third-level education to the workplace
  • To empower employers and managers to create disability-inclusive workplaces

What Do Students Gain by Getting Involved?

Participating students benefit from being mentored by industry professionals in their host organisation and by undertaking a paid summer internship with that company. The EmployAbility Programme creates opportunities for students to develop self-confidence, engage with employers, gain industry insights, enhance their employability skills, build their CVs, application support, network with professionals, and gain an insight into reasonable accommodations in the workplace.

What Is the Role of the Employer?

The EmployAbility Programme works closely with employers who are committed to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the workplace. Our website has a section dedicated to employers, including programme information, testimonials, and an expression of interest form for employers.

How Can I Contact the EmployAbility Programme?

Please contact accessemployability@ucc.ie with your full name, surname and UCC Student number if you have any queries, and we will get back to you within 1-2 working days during regular daytime office hours.
