Note: Samuel Wood Hornibrook was abducted by the IRA at Ballygroman House on the morning of 26 April 1922; he was executed along with his father Thomas Henry Hornibrook Sr and his cousin Captain Herbert Woods a day later at a secret location after being held overnight at a safe house in Scarriff townland in Templemartin parish. He and his father and cousin appear to have been secretly buried somewhere in the Newcestown district. He was 50 years old at the time of his death.

Samuel Wood Hornibrook had been born in Cork city in 1872, when his father Thomas Henry Hornibrook [Sr] was 28 and his mother Mary Jane Woods Hornibrook was 41. Samuel Hornibrook eventually came to have one brother, three half-brothers, and three half-sisters. See the previous four notes.
