From an unprecedented treble of sporting titles to the launch of our new Sports Strategy, 2018/19 gave us plenty of reasons to celebrate. However, the awarding of the annual UCC Sports Scholarships for 2019/20 demonstrated that the future is just as bright.

On 16 October, this year’s crop of talented students gathered at the Mardyke Pavillion for the official presentation of scholarships, awarded in acknowledgment of their exceptional sporting prowess.

The awards were presented by race-walking champion Robert Heffernan alongside the university’s Deputy President and Registrar, Professor John O’Halloran.

The scholarships, presented to both individuals and teams, were given to players representing a diverse range of sports including athletics, basketball, camogie, volleyball, golf, rowing, Gaelic football, table tennis, soccer, rugby, hurling, swimming, hockey and judo.

In all, sports scholarships were presented to 65 students during the ceremony. You can find the full list of recipients here.
