Congratulations to our newly appointed Clinical Professors!
We had a great evening welcoming our new Clinical Professors to College of Medicine and Health, University College Cork last night. Great to see so many familiar faces, friends and colleagues come together to acknowledge and celebrate academic research and teaching excellence.
Professor Helen Whelton congratulated 30 new clinical professors and said it was a very exciting time to collaborate and work together and an exciting time for research in UCC - "already we are home to the highest number of the top 1% of the world's most influential researchers among any Irish university and we are national leaders in research income generation. Our new professors are part and parcel of this success, a success we are ambitious to build on".
A highlight of the evening was a presentation to Gerry O'Dwyer, South/South West Hospital Group Health Service Executive who recently announced his retirement after 50 years in the health service - eight of those as CEO of South/South West Hospital Group.
