Interprofessional Learning to promote Medication Safety training
IPL workshops took place in semester 2 for medicine, pharmacy and nursing and midwifery students with Medication Safety and safe prescribing as the objective.
These workshops were developed as a collaboration by the Medical Education Unit, School of Pharmacy and School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Over 300 students worked together to review and identify prescribing issues in a hospital drug chart, share information on high-risk medications, and students practiced safe transcription and prescribing. Medication Safety pharmacists Aoife Delaney CUH and Derina Byrne MUH contributed to the delivery and facilitation of these sessions.
