Senior Medical Demonstrators granted travel awards
Mutahira Lone and Joy Balta Senior Medical Demonstrators in the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience have been granted travel awards from the American Association of Anatomists to present their research at the Experimental Biology conference in San Diego.
Joy who has a postgraduate training in anatomy from the University of Dundee, is currently undertaking a PhD investigating the use of soft preserved cadavers in medical education and research, under the supervision of Professor John Cryan and Dr Siobhan O’Mahony. Joy will present a poster entitled ‘The Utility of Cadaver-Based Approaches for the Teaching of Human Anatomy: A Survey of British and Irish Anatomy Teachers’.
Mutahira will presents a poster ‘Can a cranial nerve animation enhance Dental student learning? Employing an innovative teaching aid in the classroom’. Mutahira is a dental graduate currently undertaking a PhD on the innovative strategies to teach anatomy to dental student. Her supervisors are Professor John Cryan, Dr Andre Toulouse, Dr Joe McKenna and Dr Eric Downer.
