Dual UCC-Minzu BSc launched
A Dual BSc in Environmental Science with Environmental Management has just been launched by the School of BEES, UCC and the University of Minzu, China.
Prof. Andy Wheeler, Prof. John O'Halloran, Prof. Paul Giller and Dr Markus Eichhorn were in China recently to formally launch the new Dual-Degree programme at Minzu University. They met with their Chinese counterparts and had an opportunity to meet and deliver lectures to the first chort of students on the new programme. The Irish Ambassador to China Mr Eoin O'Leary along with the Minister of State for Training and Skills, Mr John Halligan T.D. were also present at the event.

Minzu University are a prestigious university within China who already deliver an Environmental Sciences degree programme. The first cohort of 43 students have just started in China. They will spend their first two years at Minzu, with teaching from both UCC and Minzu staff during those years. Students will spend their third year at UCC before completing the programme with a year at Minzu.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Andy Wheeler, Head of the School of BEES said that he was delighted the programme had now been officially launched. "I'm delighted that UCC and Minzu University of China have formally implemented the Dual BSc Environmental Science with Environmental Management. Minzu University of China, a top-ranking, double first University has recruited with UCC 43 high profile students to the programme from across China. We are delighted to forge the way in developing Environmental Science expertise in China where we can make lasting impact".
