New Beginnings: Engaging With the Profession
Final Years are 'Engaing with the Profession'
The second semester of the academic year 2017/18 marked the start of the new Engaging With The Profession module coordinated by Dr. Marie Kelly. This module will prepare students for entering the profession as theatre artists, giving an overview of venues and production managements as well as the procedures and practices involved in bringing a production concept to life. Students will develop a production concept and prepare a pitch for presentation to theatre professionals of a notional theatre production. Students will meet and present pitches to producers Jen Coppinger (Producer, Abbey Theare), Eibhlin Gleeson (CEO, Cork Opera House), Julie Kelleher and Naomi Daly (Artistic Director and Producer, Everyman Theatre Cork). They will also meet with Holly Carey-O’Shea (Theatre Producer/Agent/Casting Director), Jean Brennan (Cork City Arts Officer), Jane Daly (Director of the Irish Theatre Institute), Olwen Dawe (policy analyst and collaborator onGender Counts and Toolkit), and Rebecca Daly (Film Director https://iffr.com/en/blog/rebecca-daly-on-mammal).
