Visiting speaker event: Pamela Hutchinson, film writer (The Guardian; Sight & Sound; Empire; BBC) Tues 29 Nov @4pm
The Department of Film and Screen Media is delighted to welcome Pamela Hutchinson for a public lecture next Tuesday 29
th November at 4pm in the Film & Screen Media auditorium, Kane building.
Pamela is an award-winning film writer/journalist who works as a freelancer for
The Guardian, Sight and Sound, Empire, Criterion, BBC,
among others. She also curates film festivals (see her recent work on the Pre-Code Hollywood festival), and publishes longer studies (e.g., her BFI Classics study of
the G.W Pabst classic,
Pandora's Box).
Pamela also runs the Silent London website and has extensive experience working with major festivals such as Le Giornate del Cinema Muto, Pordenone; Bristol Silents etc.
More details of the event are on the attached poster. The illustrated talk will be of relevance to anyone interested in writing, writing on film (scholarly and for popular consumption), journalism, film history, feminist film histories, and film festivals.
