MA in Film and Screen Media student jury member at the European University Film Awards

Peter Colm Calnan (MA in Film and Screen Media) participated in the debates held at at the Körber-Stiftung in Hamburg December 8, 2016 to find the winner of the 1st European University Film Award.


University College Cork is a partner university of the prestigious European University Film Awards.

Filmfest Hamburg and the European Film Academy (EFA) launched in 2016 the 1st European University Film Award (EUFA) - presented and voted by European university students. The aim of this initiative is to involve a younger audience, to spread the "European idea" and to transport the spirit of European cinema to an audience of university students. It shall also support film dissemination, film education and the culture of debating.

The students of the UCC MA in Film and Screen Media participated in the selection of the winner by debating the 5 selected films in class and by expressing their individual votes. Our Student Ambassador, Peter Colm Calnan, was a member of the student jury that met in Munich and awarded the prize to I, Daniel Blake by Ken Loach.
