Recent Graduations

Congratulations to Dr Maria Donovan and Dr Eileen Curran latest Cryan lab members to graduate with their PhDs and Dr Ahmad Hassan Sheikh who graduated with a MD at UCC yesterday.
Dr Maria Donovan completed her doctorate studies under the supervision of Dr Brendan Griffin, Professor John Cryan and Professor Geraldine Boylan looking at a novel drug treatment for neonatal seizures. The title of her thesis is 'Novel strategies to enhance Bumetanide concentrations in the brain in the treatment of neonatal seizures'.
Dr. Eileen Curran completed her doctorate under the direction of Dr. Ali Khashan, Prof. Patricia Kearney, Prof. John Cryan, Prof. Ted Dinan and Prof. Louise Kenny, and the title of her thesis was "Obstetric Mode of Delivery and Child Psychological Development."
Dr Ahmad Hassan Sheikh, Senior Medical Demonstrator, Department of Anatomy & Neuroscience was conferred with an MD at yesterday's conferrings. Dr Sheikh completed his theis entitled 'Anatomical Knowledge and Surgical Skills: A New Approach to Integrate Basic Surgical Skills in Anatomical Education in the Early Years of a Medical Program' under the direction of Dr Gerard O'Keeffe and Prof. John Cryan.
