Dr Siobhain O' Mahony speaks at The 18th Shizuoka Forum, Shizuoka city, Japan

Dr Siobhain O’Mahony delivered a very well received presentation at the 18th Shizuoka Forum on Health and Longevity in Shizuoka, Japan held November 1st and 2nd 2013 .
Siobhain’s presentation discussed ‘ the link between gut microbiota, stress and inflammation in disorders of the CNS . The involvement of the gut microbiota in mental health is starting to be acknowledged with the acceptance that there is a bi-directional communication between the brain and the gut. The wealth of bacteria within the bowel play a role in both health and disease.
"Shizuoka Forum on Health and Longevity" has been held every year since 1995,serving to disseminate knowledge from top researchers in the field of health and longevity. A major focus of the forum is to share this important knowledge all over Japan and the world in order to promote a healthy and long life.
