CoMH Civic and Community Engagement Sub-Committee

Civic and community engagement is recognised by UCC as the third mission of the University and forms part of the UCC Strategic Plan 2023-2028. The College of Medicine and Health (CoMH) Civic and Community Engagement (CCE) Sub-Committee, established in 2023, is a structure to support the College in its mission of engagement with civic society and the community and voluntary sector. The CoMH CCE Sub-Committee is a working group of the University CCE Committee, which reports to the University Management Team. 

Purpose and work of the Sub-Committee 

The Sub-Committee champions civic and community engagement, particularly building understanding of, promoting, and amplifying the various forms of engagement including Engaged Research, Engaged Learning, Student Volunteering, Partnership and Societal Engagement.  

The Sub-Committee meets quarterly, with specific working groups meeting more often, as needed. 

Membership

The Sub-Committee comprises one member from each of the six schools in the College (in addition to the co-chairs), along with members from affiliated research centres (namely the APC Microbiome Ireland and INFANT), students and civic society and community sector members. It also has ex-officio members, including Vice Heads within the College of Medicine and Health, the Head of Civic and Community Engagement in the University and a PPI Ignite @ UCC representative.
