October Bank Holiday Weekend - Shutdown of Electrical Power to UCC Main Campus

October Bank Holiday Weekend - Shutdown of Electrical Power to UCC Main Campus

The electrical power will be shut down to the entire Main Campus buildings during the following times:

1830hrs Friday 24th October 2008 until 0600hrs Tuesday 28th October 2008.

The above is necessary to facilitate replacement of Medium Voltage Switchgear serving the entire Main Campus. This work is part of a rolling programme of infrastructure upkeep in the University, that must be completed in 2008. This work takes three successive days to complete.

The impact of the above is that there will be no electrical power to Main Campus buildings for the duration.  Access to University buildings should be by arrangement with Department Heads/General Services. Power to outlying Houses and satellite Campus areas will be unaffected.

It will be the responsibility of all Heads of Departments /Units/Centres to ensure that Departmental equipment are left in a safe condition, prior to service shutdown, bearing in mind that the service may be restored at any time during the shutdown period. Ideally specialist departmental equipment should be shutdown and isolated for the duration of the shutdown, if this is practical.  Alternatively, departmental personnel may wish to be present at start-up to ensure correct start-up procedures.

Please switch off and unplug (if applicable) all non-essential equipment/appliances before vacating the building on Friday 24th October 2008, e.g. Fumecupboards, Lab equipment, PC's, printers, fax machines etc.

If there are any problems with the above, or if the Buildings & Estates Office can help in any way, please contact Ger O’Sullivan, Facilities Co-ordinator on ext. 1888 or via email: ger.osullivan@ucc.ie , or  via  the B & E Office Helpdesk on  ext. 2480. Please ensure that the Reference number Ref: 081024, is present in the subject line of any enquiries.

We apologise any inconvenience caused, and thank you for your ongoing co-operation.
