Minister Pat Rabbitte presented the ISO 50001 certificate to UCC at a joint presentation with the Irish Naval Service (INS) on a visit to the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) on 20th February 2012.
The Western Gateway Building was selected as the winning entry under the Renewable Energy Systems category at the annual Energy Awards in Dublin last November.

SEAI to support 22 energy efficiency projects to deliver up to €7 million annual energy savings and support over 500 jobs.
UCC, one of the first public bodies in the world to achieve ISO 50001 certification, has an on-going programme to retrofit their facilities. The specific exemplar project aims to utilise the ESCO model to strategically retrofit the electrical and mechanical facilities in a number of campus buildings.

A failure of an ESB piece of equipment located in Castlewhite Gate Lodge on Western Road caused a general Trip of the main ESB substation.
Currently the Buildings & Estates office along with members of the Green Campus Forum have been attending a Green Initiative Course at the Enterprise Centre,
As announced earlier, the last week before Christmas (starting Mon 16th Dec) will see another updated P+R shuttle timetable.
Extra morning and evening services to the Lee Maltings will be integrated into the Campus services. Pouladuff - Campus will be served c. every 30 mins.

The 4th annual lunchtime concert commemorating the impact of First World War in UCC took place on Tuesday 26th November in the Aula Maxima.

A huge Thank You to everybody who braved last Thursday 12th Dec wintery conditions to support UCC Security’s fundraising Christmas Candlelight Walk in aid of Abbey’s Wish to Walk!

On Friday the 8th November 2013 the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins presented the Gold Medal award at RIAI, Merrion Square, Dublin. This is the highest accolade that a building can be awarded in Ireland for the design of a building of exceptional merit completed within a three year old period. UCC's Lewis Art Gallery was shortlisted for this award.

A Doctor’s War was broadcast on TV3 on Monday night 9th December at 10 pm.
At 1743hrs Mon 16th Dec, the electrical power, serving the entire Main Campus, UCC, tripped out, on 'Earth Fault'. This was a Sudden and unforeseen failure and was quickly traced to a fault in a UCC underground MV Electrical Cable serving the Main Boilerhouse, Windle Building and Agresso Prefabs.
UCC was shortlisted in the 10th annual Chambers Ireland Corporate Social Responsibility Awards. The initiative aimed to make environmental awareness and action an integral part of the philosopy of university life.
