Summer School 2023
International Summer School on Extreme Nonlinear Optics in Solids - Dedicated to the memory of Stephan W. Koch –
Date: 13th - 19th August 2023, University College Cork
The International Summer School will will honor the remarkable legacy of the late Stephan W Koch whose contribution to semiconductor optics and many-body physics has been immense.
School Topic
High intensity light interacting with semiconductor media creates new paradigms for the study of extreme nonlinear optics in solids.
Two classes of material systems, (1) strong THz field driven semiconductors and (2) ultrafast pulse driven dynamics in TMDCs are cases in point. The Semiconductor Bloch (e.g. HHG in semiconductors) or Semiconductor Dirac Bloch (quasi-2D TMDCs) equations provide the necessary rigorous many-body foundation.
This school will introduce the rigorous theoretical foundations of the above and introduce state-of-the art advances in relevant experiments. It is intended for graduate students, advanced undergraduate students and even senior researchers seeking an accelerated exposure to this rapidly emerging area.
School Organisers
John J McInerney (UCC, Ireland) and Jerome V Moloney (Arizona, USA)
School Lecturers
Thomas Brabec (University of Ottawa, Canada) ; Steven Cundiff (University of Michigan, USA) ; Rupert Huber (Regensburg University, Germany); Frank Jahnke (Bremen University, Germany); Mackillo Kira (University of Michigan, USA); Miroslav Kolesik (University of Arizona, USA) ; Torsten Meier (Paderborn University, Germany)
Registration
Early Bird Registration is available until 10th March 2023.
