Dr. Michael Murphy president of University College Cork invited An Taoiseach, Mr. Enda Kenny TD to the ceremony to "turn the sod" on the Beaufort Building which will house UCC's new centre of excellence in Maritime and Energy Systems. This was held on Thursday 11th July 2013 at the site of the Beaufort Building, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork at which Mr. Enda Kenny performed the "turn the sod".
