Applications are invited from suitably qualified members of staff for the above wholetime permanent post. The appointee will be responsible to the Head of Department and will provide administrative/secretarial assistance to the department.

The Department of Biochemistry is one of the largest Departments in the laboratory science area in education and research. It is highly active in education, training and research at the undergraduate postgraduate and postdoctoral and senior scientist levels. The Department staff are situated at three different locations (Lee Maltings, Biosciences Institute and Analytical Biological Chemical Research Facility). The Department plays a central role in several undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. A Senior Executive Position is available within the Department.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Extensive administrative and secretarial experience and a thorough knowledge of College procedures and UCC systems such as ITS, DMIS, Blackboard etc.
  • A high level of competency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Microsoft Outloook.
  • Experience in administration and reconciliation of the Department budget and Department accounts
  • Experience in management and monitoring of Part time staffing budget
  • Experience in administration support for postgraduate recruitment, postgraduate progression and examination of MSc and PhDs.
  • Experience in management of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) at Department level
  • Experience in administration support for undergraduate and taught postgraduate degrees
  • Experience in Department web management and updating

Salary scales:
€26,788 - €39,365 (Scale A)
€28,198 - €41,436 (Scale B) [new entrants]
