Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Professorship in Materials Chemistry

(Joint Appointment: Tyndall National Institute & Department of Chemistry)

Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) has made awards to University College Cork (UCC) and Tyndall National Institute of SFI Professorship in the above field under the  SFI Stokes Programme.  Applications are now invited for this position.

The postholder will be expected to bring together research teams to undertake research of the highest international standard. The joint appointment is intended to foster the interaction between the Department of Chemistry and Tyndall National Institute.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of working at a senior level within an internationally leading research institute and/or an academic or industrial environment.  S/he will have a proven record of internationally recognised independent research accomplishments in the above field and evidence of successfully attracting substantial research funding.  The appointee will also have the ability to provide strategic vision and leadership in the development of their specialist fields.

The Professorship is a 5-year SFI-funded joint appointment at Tyndall National Institute and UCC, carrying a proleptic permanent post in the Department of Chemistry within the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science at UCC.  The successful candidate will be expected eventually to play a leading role in teaching, research and administration within the sponsoring department.

Salary Scale: [new entrants]: €111,286 - €143,193. Appointment will be made at a salary level appropriate to the experience of the candidate.
