Mentor Panel

Dr Andrew England is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy working at University College Cork in Ireland. His work is focuses upon diagnostic radiography and radiation therapy education and research into the areas of dose optimisation, digital radiography, CT and mammography. His publications explore patient-centred care as well as novel technologies and techniques that enhance the detection of clinical indicators of disease whilst minimising risk to the patient.

His research has been disseminated through major international imaging meetings, including the annual meetings of the European Congress of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America and the UK Imaging and Oncology Conference. He is the recipient of several prestigious research awards. In total, he has published over 100 original papers in the highest-ranked radiological journals. He has generated >€300,000 of funding. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has worked with the European Federation of Radiography Societies (EFRS) for over 10 years, he currently the EFRS President.

Approach as Mentor

Throughout my career I have witness the benefits of successful mentorship, both for individuals but also the wider organisation. My approach is to adopt a friendly and honest approach to a mentee-driven approach to mentorship.   

Types of Mentoring Offered:

1:1 Mentoring - Longer term relationship (1 year plus).

1:1 Mentoring - Short term relationship (6 months or less).

Speed Mentoring - One meeting to address specific mentee need.

Mentoring Topics Include: Innovation in Research, Collaborative Research, Preparing Articles for Publication, Choosing Where to Publish - Publishing Strategically, Developing an Academic Profile, Research and Professional Ethics, Speaking at Conferences.
