Academic Health Sciences System: Transforming Services through Innovative Healthcare Solutions 

A new report on problem drug use (PDU) has been published. The study, commissioned by the Health Service Executive (HSE) Cork and Kerry and Cork City Council, examined the scale of problem PDU in Cork city using multiple data sources.

On 14th November, 2024, the National Chief Academic Officer (CAO) Group hosted its second annual conference at O’Reilly Hall, UCD.

A pivotal role in shaping an effective system that supports the university and the health region in a complex and evolving regulatory landscape. 

This research was part of Aileen's PhD, with close collaboration between Cork Kerry Community Healthcare, HSE, School of Public Health and Department of General Practice, UCC and Primary Care.

The theme, "Keeping our Health Workforce", focused on addressing staff shortages in healthcare by emphasising retention through education, training, and research.

On 28th April 2023, Professor Helen Whelton, Head of CoMH, and CAO SSWHG, was invited to speak at the University Hospital Limerick Clinical Education & Research Centre Grand Rounds.

Prof Whelton spoke on the value of ‘Bridging the gap between academic endeavour and health service'.
