GP on the Quad Conference 2025

Collaboration in action in UCC.
We were delighted to welcome over 100 GPs, GP Practice Nurses and HSE colleagues to University College Cork recently for ‘GP on the Quad Conference 2025’ which took place in UCC's Aula Maxima on the 28th June.
This conference, hosted by the Department of General Practice UCC in partnership with the postgraduate Cork GP Specialist Training Programme and HSE Southwest, focused on ‘Advances in Chronic Disease Management and Integrated Care’.
Highlights included updates on the implementation of the HSE Chronic Disease Management Programme in general practice and medicines optimisation for people living with multiple long-term health conditions.
Clinical updates were provided by national and regional leaders on heart failure, type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, followed by a panel discussion with General Practice and HSE leaders regionally.
Prof. Emma Wallace, GP & Head of Department of General Practice, UCC said this conference highlights "that many people are now having their long term health conditions fully managed in general practice and the community, with demonstrable improvements in health outcomes and reduced need for hospital-based care. This highlights the value of investing in general practice and community-based care to deliver health services locally for people living with long-term health conditions.”
