The Joe Gantly Prize in Engineering
Catherine O’Callaghan, UCC Energy Engineering student has received the Joe Gantly Prize in Engineering. The prize is awarded annually to the best student of the Work Placement module in the master's in engineering (Hons) programmes at UCC.
Catherine completed her work placement with ESB Renewables in Offshore Operations.
This year’s finalists for the Joe Gantly Prize were:
- Chloe Ferris, Process & Chemical Engineering
- Gregory Paul, Civil and Environmental Engineering
- Ethan Hussey, Electric and Electronic Engineering
Cork Chamber has donated €1,500 annually to establish the Joe Gantly Prize in Engineering in honour of the late Joe Gantly. Mr. Gantly was a Civil Engineering graduate of Trinity College Dublin, and made a significant contribution to industry and education in the Cork area. He served as Director of European Operations at Apple Computers, President of Cork Chamber, Chairman of the Cork Airport Authority, and as Governor of UCC.
