Duty of Respect and Right to Dignity at Work Policy Training (for Managers)
Participant Group: Managers / Team Leaders / Supervisors

Overview
To raise manager self-awaren ess of, and capability to, professionally manage themselves to implement the Duty of Respect and Right to Dignity at Work policy. The course aims to develop underpinning and transferable manager skills to:
- Discharge the line manager’s role should the policy be invoked
- Take a positive, respectful, impartial and open approach to identifying potential conflict issues
- Resolve issues before they worsen
Learning Objectives:
- Have an overview level of knowledge of the Duty of Respect and Right to Dignity at Work policy (pre-reading is required of participants so they know the policy)
- Know, and be able to discharge the roles and responsibilities of a manager around the policy. Specifically, to be professional, objective, detached, impartial and knowledgeable in implementing the DRRDW policy
- Understand the signs of how to spot conflict and people management issues in the team as early as possible
- Identify and prepare an effective approach to addressing and resolving issues as soon as they arise
- Develop skills to manage oneself, staying calm under pressure, regulating emotions, remaining resilient and impartial
- Be able to use attentive listening skills to understand both parties and their perspectives as clearly as possible
- Be confident to encourage meaningful dialogue to resolve the matter locally to facilitate local resolution
- Know the next steps in the policy and how/ when to go for help whilst taking ownership for one’s role in the process and the situation
- Know how to restore reasonable and functional working relationships where complaints aren’t upheld
