Lectureship in Medieval History

College of Arts, Celtic Studies & Social Sciences

The History Department at University College Cork (UCC) has approximately 30 full-time and part-time teaching staff, and is one of the largest Departments in the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences in UCC.  Undergraduate student numbers are large and growing, complemented by among the highest numbers of graduate research students in the college. The Department has a strong research and publication record.

Applications are invited for the above whole-time permanent post. Candidates will have a doctorate in History, a strong research and publication record, a proven teaching record, and administrative ability.  The successful candidate will complement the existing research strengths in the department and extend them into the late medieval period.  Preference will be given to candidates whose research specialism is in European cultural and religious history within the 12th to the 15th centuries.

Salary scale [new entrants]: €35,610 - €57,847. There is provision for subsequent progression to higher salary scale, max. €83,504.
